So great to catch up with friends but missed Mothers Day with my kids. That’s life!
It seems like the celebration originally began in the United States in the early 20th century and whilst I’m all in favour of honouring our mothers it appears there’s a celebration, or should I say a day for everything these days. I’ve just discovered there is a Siblings Day, didn’t know about that one! International Women’s Day always has to be a good one but the best day in
my calendar has to be World Toilet Day on 19th November.
So what’s your favourite Day?
Speaking of days do you ever feel that the day isn’t long enough or in contrast, you are glad that day is over. Life is so unpredictable and we have no idea what tomorrow will bring. I have just been talking to a dear friend and trying to encourage her because she spends most of her waking day worrying about things that may never happen. Yes we need to be thoughtful, do a little planning for the future, but this cycle of worry is no good for anyone. How many people allow fear to come into their hearts leading to that perpetual worrying about stuff, that in reality probably will never happen. Been there, done that and, learnt the lesson.
So, today is a new day and let’s start on a positive note, especially when it comes to our health. I firmly believe that the brain does the bidding of the mind. Think about something long enough, talk about it and worry about it, you will have it. Apparently research shows that 75 to 98 percent of mental, physical and behavioural illness comes from one’s thought life. A staggering thought! Then we all know someone who has made themselves sick through worry, don’t we?
Proverbs 12.25 says, ‘worry weights a person down,’ so holding that thought I’m going to have a ‘clean up the house day’ and a writing day – no worry – and I’m believing for a positive and fruitful week.
I find writing things down is so therapeutic, it empties the thoughts from my head. In fact I am one of those people who have kept journals for many years and it’s quite amazing when you read something you wrote 10 years ago and see what route your life has taken.
I’m saying no more just put that smile on your face and count your blessings. There is always someone worse off.
And if you didn’t see your mother or send a card on Mother’s Day, it’s never too late to say I love you!
