(This message was added in version 6.7.0.) in /var/www/annamckann.com/public/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6114I have been thinking recently about jealousy and envy. Now I know we have all looked at others on occasions and thought, I wish I had what they have. The question we fail to ask is, would I be willing to go through what they have been through to get it?
That’s the reality isn’t it?
Unless you are born with a silver spoon in your mouth most people have had to work pretty hard to gain their success story. I know those who have made huge sacrifices, perhaps neglected relationships and possibly even question today, was it worth it? That’s the path they chose.
But, we all measure success differently, and it is essential we educate our children to look at personality, stamina and character, as opposed to the type of car someone drives or what appearance suggests they may have in their bank account.
Jealousy and envy ultimately lead to hate and it is undoubtedly damaging. Have you met people who are so bitter and hateful that they are sick? I’ve witnessed it on several occasions.
More recently, I was made aware of someone who was harbouring awful bitterness and jealousy towards me. I actually felt very sad for that person rather than angry. They clearly have no idea of the trials, challenges and difficulties I have had to go through. And life still isn’t easy.
Please folks, get a grip. Don’t envy others be glad for them. We all have seasons in life. With a good positive attitude you too can achieve. But primarily, one thing that concerns me is this. Envy is usually the result of disappointments in your own life, and poor self image. If you were as successful as the person you envy you wouldn’t feel the way you do. So ultimately I am saying, those feelings are coming from emotional issues in your own life which need addressing. If you put as much effort into your own healing as you do anchoring over what others have. If you turn your negative thoughts to positive and focus on self rather than others, you will maintain a happier life.
The world may not seem fair and we cannot control what happens in other’s lives. We make our own choices and live with the consequences.
And while we’re on the subject of self. If someone has hurt you let it go. We are all human and mess up sometimes. Unforgivenes, will also lead to a route of bitterness and will harm you more than them. You don’t have to associate with that person again but at least release those feelings, forgive and move on.
Stay healthy. Stay wise.
