(This message was added in version 6.7.0.) in /var/www/annamckann.com/public/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6114Well I had intended to do a pre-Easter blog but didn’t find the time. A busy birthday week, followed by the Easter weekend, it’s now back to the office to plan the next couple of weeks and delegate. Uhm, it’s good to delegate!
It would have been nice to have a few more days chilling at home but most of us have returned to work. Unless you are one of those in the teaching profession of course, who get far too many holidays and still moan. Yes, I know a few of them.
I hope you all had a fab Easter. Certainly the weather was good to us and I ended the weekend on a high with a visit to Sheffield Arena to see Gary Barlow. It was a great evening, excellent seats and I just love his new album, especially the track ‘Jump.’ Very positive and thought provoking words about taking that step of faith and what have we got to lose but everything to gain. It makes me think of Jesus and the resurrection story.
What about all those dreams and visions that we harbour in our hearts? Ideas and challenges that we have allowed to die because we are full of excuses.I’m too old, I can’t do it. What if I fail? Etc etc.
Big deal,go for it. Better to jump as Gary would say, and fail rather than not jump at all. And it’s never too late, don’t you believe it.
Last week I did a mock- up of a book which will go to print later this year, the first in the series of Grandpa’s Tales. Based on a story told to me by my own loving father who turned 80 years this week, I expect this to be one of many in the forthcoming series.
So here he is listening to his own story as read by his 8 year old great granddaughter.
Back to the Easter message and what it’s all about. Today we hear in the press all the fuss about David Cameron our Prime Minister and his statement regarding our Christian nation. Should the PM do religion seems to be the question. Well why not? What happened to our great Christian heritage of which we Brits used to be very proud? Can we be described as a Christian country anymore? Sadly, I think not but one thing for sure;- whilst we are thinking about our faith and what we may or may not believe, there are certain facts that if we study the life of Jesus we cannot deny. He spoke of love and peace, discipline and honesty to mention just a few. I believe this country shows a great lack of godliness and we sure have strayed from our Christian values.
One of my favourite proverbs is and always will be. Proverbs 22:6
‘Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.’
So, my post Easter thought is this.
Easter is a time of resurrection and of new birth. Resurrect those dreams and visions. Encourage our children in their gifts, help them and support them and teach them well.
Learn more about the Christian faith and study the life and teachings of Jesus.
Don’t get religious, we all hate religion. Don’t we?
Regards
Anna
