I am on the train to see some of the kids at a London school which I visited earlier in the year. They have all done a book review for me, and very good they are too. Well done kids. Very professional. Your teacher must be proud of you.
Then I have to do a quick dash to see my amigos at Lupita before I head back to Yorkshire. As if I could visit London and not Lupita. It doesn’t bare thinking about.
So, as I relax and scan the horizon I have to admit that the English countryside is especially beautiful and I’m sure that most of those country bumpkins will not have experienced anything like Mexico City life. Must Google bumpkin…why do we use that word?
This morning I was thinking about the 4 kids who lived behind the bill-board and thought I would post some photos that I had taken whilst visiting them.
Well actually my Mexican colleague Gerardo Aguillar took most of the pictures while I chatted to them. It’s so sad to hear that 12 year old kids are running away from home and choosing to live like this as a preference. All I can say is home life must have been r-e-a-l-l-y bad to opt for this. I think I may have mentioned before it’s not easy to get photos on the streets, and 3 of the kids living behind the bill-board ran off when they saw the camera.
Nevertheless,
I have good photos of their living accommodation – which is the tiniest of spaces – and their entire worldly possessions, not to mention pictures of the one kid who was happy to be photographed with me, and seemingly very proud of his dirty, but painted toes
Looking at where they sleep every night it sure makes me grateful for my cosy bed and those fluffy pillows.
If you’re reading this on my Chavos website then you need to go onto my facebook fan page or my wordpress blog to see the pictures.
Have to go now or I’ll be late for school.
