A night in front of the Telly

What’s going on? I was so disappointed to watch Dragon’s Den last night when no one wanted to invest in Marcela Flores Newburn and her Tamales business- Rico Mexican Kitchen- as she pitched for funding. In my opinion she gave an excellent presentation, backed up by the appearance of Mariachi Mexteca, the UK’s leading Mariachi band, who are actually the very people who will be serenading guests at the first annual Chavos Masquerade Ball in Leeds on 29thOctober 2011. Obviously a decision as to whether to back a business is based on far more than a good and innovative presentation and our Dragons do know what they are doing. Don’t they? Personally I think Mexican food is going to be big in the UK over the next few years. Thinking of dining out, we’ve had Chinese, Indian, and Italian in abundance.  Spanish tapas bars dotted around. Now it’s time for something different – real Mexican food please! We need more authentic restaurants please. I wonder if the owners of Mestizo, Hampstead Road, London NW1 would consider opening another restaurant in or around Leeds?  Pleeeeaaaase!

Recently we’ve had the channel 5 series Mexican food made simple and I still need to watch the rest of those episodes, though they are moving up on my list of “waiting to view recordings.” Whatever did I do before Sky +?

Later, I went on to watch a repeat of EastEnders tough guy Grant Mitchell, turned reporter Ross Kemp on gangs. What an eye opener. Needless to say, what an amazing series that has been and it did very deservingly win a BAFTA Award in 2007. Then, a glass of milk, most boring! Would have preferred a nice glass of red but the wine rack was empty. Can’t believe it! Shame I didn’t have in one of Marcela’s juices. Then I watched the TV investigator, Donald McIntyre, who just so happened to be filming on kidnapping and street violence in Mexico City-The World’s Toughest Towns series.

Yes unfortunately, it’s true. Everybody knows somebody who has been kidnapped in Mexico City, whether it is for 700 or 70,000 dollars!

Uhm, food for thought. Do I really want to go back to Mexico City soon?

On a cheerier note. I have got my ball gown!  10 weeks to go.

And, Buena Suerte para el futuro Marcela.
