Initially, with little knowledge of the industry but a vision which has developed over the past few years the business is now ready to showcase its ideas, and forthcoming publications. Subsequently we have made the decision to showcase our products at the London International Book Fair in April this year.
Attended by 1700 international exhibitors from over 100 countries the book fair is a mecca for publishers, booksellers, rights agents and media spotters. Each year the London Book Fair has a market focus programme when the objective is to put the spotlight on trade links with that country. Interestingly in 2015 the country will be Mexico and that is where my story begins…
A Vision Birthed:-
Speaking as founder director of Rainbow Childcare Yorkshire Ltd- established initially in 1988 as a sole trader – I can now reminisce and say that Chavos began as a picture book for my own pre-school children. Inspired by a vision – there by lies another story – I was led to write the imaginary tale of a little girl who was homeless, hungry and dreamed of a better life. I believed it was important that children learn even in those early pre-school years, that there are those less fortunate than themselves.
As the result of many visits to Mexico City between Autumn 2003 and Spring 2013, meeting with a variety of people including the street kids: those who work with them; people in government; education and business, I have birthed what I believe to be the long term vision for Chavos.
The Brand – is unique; unlike anything else on the market today.
Indeed, with the world changing so rapidly, and children’s books acting as a barometer of the time in which they’re written, the Chavos range depicts all the things that we are trying to get to grips with in society today. Never before have we been so concerned with global issues; drugs; crime; poverty, and promiscuous behaviour. All of which the Chavos brand addresses in an educational and entertaining way.
Whilst continuing to write and nurture the company’s creative development, also working on a stage adaption, ‘Chavos The Musical,’ – I believe we have come to a new season. The foundations are laid, and now is the time! Yes folks, this is the season when all that hard work, patience and in my case faith, pays off. Yes it is no secret that I believe all this began when God put it on my heart to go to Mexico. Sadly, too many people don’t want God in their lives but that is a discussion for another day, another blog!
So, as we push forward with the Chavos Brand and other publications in our portfolio, I am ready to face the challenges and results that this year will bring.
Is it too late to say, Happy New Year everyone?
I just did!
