Local publication the Tucson Sentinel reports two individuals were asked to pull over in a black sedan prior to crossing the border but instead decided to flee.
Their vehicle was later found abandoned nine miles away and the two men were arrested. Inside the vehicle, officials found 16 bricks of marijuana, valued at around $16,000 (£9,697).
Meanwhile, CBP agents also captured a 28-year-old male from Guatemala this week, who is suspected to have links to organised Mexican crime.
Elsewhere, a firefight broke out between suspected drug traffickers and the Mexican Army earlier this week, resulting in the deaths of eight individuals and the serious injury of one soldier.
The incident took place at round 05:30 local time on Tuesday (August 16th) morning in the municipality of Tacambaro in Michoacan.
