The chart-topping rapper has narrated what is thought to be the UK's first Ketai – a mobile phone novel – that comprises 16 100-word chapters and was written on a Nokia E6 handset, reports the London Evening Standard.
Nokia is said to be hopeful that the story will appeal to children aged between seven and 17.
Commenting on the initiative, Chipmunk signalled his support for the newspaper's Get London Reading campaign and said few of his peers enjoyed books when he was younger.
"I was lucky because my dad forced me to read, refusing to let me out to play football with my friends until I had done my reading," he explained.
According to the Evening Standard, one in four children leave primary schools in London without the ability to read properly.
