Camilla called at Cavendish Primary School in Chiswick as part of the London Evening Standard's Get London Reading campaign and helped to spark a newfound love for books in one youngster.
Seven-year-old Daniel Tarjanyi struggled with books until he was asked to read Little Red Riding Hood to the royal and now takes a book to bed with him.
Daniel is just one of 1,100 children who will be helped with their literacy by reading mentors funded by the campaign, which has raised £190,000 since launching four months ago.
A Clarence House spokesman said: "The Duchess of Cornwall is delighted that Daniel and thousands of children like him are benefiting from the wonderful support of volunteer reading help."
An avid literacy campaigner, Camilla was named the new patron of independent reading charity Booktrust in June.
