Restaurants in the US serving food have evolved from fast food take-outs to become places for people to get authentic, tasty and healthy Mexican meals and chefs from television cookery shows are supporting the efforts made.
Blair Chancey, editor of QSR Magazine, said: "We're seeing people interested in all sorts of tastes … Mexican, Asian, Indian is really big right now."
Franchised restaurants serving classic food such as fajitas, enchiladas and chili con carne are doing better financially compared to many other fast food outlets and fine dining restaurants, ABC News reports.
Jonathan Kaplan, who created the Flip video camera and plans to open a grilled cheese eatery in California called The Melt, said: "There's really a niche where restaurants are able to offer high-end quality ingredients, artisanal breads, really high-quality cheeses."
Chipotle Mexican Grill founder Steve Ellis added that fast food can be good quality and his company's Mexican dishes include both ideas.
The chain has branches in the US, UK and Canada and claims to serve "food with integrity".
