(This message was added in version 6.7.0.) in /var/www/annamckann.com/public/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6114This week I’m counting my blessings. Having seen first-hand the wreckage caused by the floods in Spain and listened to some of the frightening tales recited by friends – including one family of 5 who drowned in their underground garage whilst attempting to escape the tidal wave – now I’m listening to the destruction caused by tropical storm Sandy. God Bless the man interviewed on Sky News who said, ‘everything I own has gone but my family are alive and well, so I can’t complain!’
You know many of us need a reality check and should be ashamed as we moan about this and that and, don’t give a thought about what may be happening to others in different parts of the world. Material things are good and make our lives more pleasurable and comfortable but, I wish some of the people that I know could grasp the concept and realise how lucky they are. I’m no saint and could do more I’m sure but, I wish everyone would book their ideas up and do something for someone else, more often.
Lend a helping hand, buy someone a gift. Whatever, get out of that selflessness. There’s always someone worse off and if you do something nice for someone, you don’t even know but maybe, just maybe that blessing will come back to you one day.
Now, that brings to mind an incident in London not so long ago when someone was caught on CCTV bobbing into a store and returning to give a sandwich to a homeless guy. It was put on YouTube and became an instant sensation. What on earth was all that about? I do stuff like that regularly and NO, I’m not making me out to be little miss goody, but shouldn’t we all be thinking on those lines?
Have you ever talked to any of these people and found out about their background? Why are they homeless? You might just be surprised!
Well thanks be to God that if you’re reading this blog you didn’t end up on the streets so, count your blessings and do something nice today for someone today.
Be blessed
Anna.
