My granddaughter came around a few days ago, threw herself on the sofa and exclaimed, ‘nanny I have a headache. Well actually, my brain hurts.’ Bless!
But that actually started me thinking. Is my brain healthy? Now I know that sounds random and I’m no hypochondriac but it’s a serious thought. Are our brains healthy and if not why not? And more to the point what can we expect in later life if we don’t have a healthy brain.
Did you know that if you research brain health, the facts are that the more we use our brains the healthier they will be and, the less the risk of disease such as Alzheimer’s in later life.
Folks it’s so important to embrace a healthy life-style, diet and habits. The result of which will me a healthy mind and body. Obvious really!
A balanced diet of fruit and vegetables will help clear out and dump toxins from the body. The rewards are immense and extend to the mind and spirit. Plus, adding a consistent workout routine will contribute to your health improvement overall. Even a brisk 20 minute walk twice a day will lengthen your life. So if you don’t have a dog, maybe you should get one. It’s true! Then there’s no such excuse as can’t be bothered. When that little character look as you pleadingly, you won’t be able to refuse. Added to which it’s a proven fact that people who have pets are less stressful.
So, I have been thinking more seriously about diet, especially in the light of the fact that more than one of my friends has recently been diagnosed with cancer. A wicked disease which thrives on sugar. Do they teach us that? Do we need to cut back on our biscuits, cakes and chocolate? Well actually I did that some time ago but I’m now thinking about all those hidden sugars.
So where am I going with all this? Basically I’m currently re- evaluating my lifestyle, making some changes and I will have a healthy brain!
