(This message was added in version 6.7.0.) in /var/www/annamckann.com/public/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6114Well that’s it, I’m officially there. The London Book Fair and Sharon House has it’s first exhibition stand. If all goes well it will be Frankfurt in October.
So this is the moment when I get to showcase the Chavos Brand to the world. Well maybe I exaggerate, but to all those who venture along to Stand 1F45 at least. And with visitors from about 100 countries I could get away with the statement – the world! Well couldn’t I?
So, with lots of news and photos to blog, watch this space. Hopefully this will be an encouragement to all those authors out there who want to self-publish and think they can’t, or people who generally have a vision but are afraid to take the chances. Well, what I have done is not for the faint hearted but I don’t regret one moment, even though to get me to this point I feel it has cost me dearly.
So what’s the book fair all about? Networking, selling foreign rights for your books, looking for opportunities to develop and expand. Certainly no one could say I self-published, I went far beyond that, and now with a growing hub of people working at Sharon House hopefully next year we will have more children’s authors waiting for publication. I am particularly excited about the series, Grandpa’s Tales the first one of which is Finn and Limm.
Whilst the vision is to produce books which impact children’s lives I suppose the first observation that comes to mind is, don’t all books impact children’s lives? Well yes surely they do to some extent so let’s qualify that statement, to impact their lives with positive images whilst educating about global awareness of issues facing society today.
Ok – ready to go having set up today. The stand looks pretty good even though I say it myself and looking forward to the challenges that this book fair will bring. Learning more about the sale of foreign rights and contractural agreements as we go, it’s steady away. Or as they say in Spanish, paso a paso, dia a dia.
