Chipotle to open new London branch

January 6, 2012

Mexican food in the UK has been given a boost as one of the largest chains in the cuisine is set to open a new branch in London's trendy Soho.

Property buyers Cushman & Wakefield have recently acquired a location on behalf of the Chipotle Mexican Grill chain, which already has two restaurants in the city.

Currently there are two other branches in London, which are located at Charing Cross and Baker Street. It is hoped that the new restaurant will create opportunities for further growth.

Thomas Rose, associate in Cushman & Wakefield's leisure and restaurant team, said: "Chipotle is a fantastic brand with strong values centred around 'food with integrity'. It will be a real asset to the growing restaurant scene in Soho."

He added that the site is a great corner location in the busy city which will be ideal for the restaurant's increasing success and customer base.

Chipotle restaurants originated in the US, where the owners currently run over 1,100 branches.

The large franchise was started by Steve Ells, who is currently the chief executive of the company but also works as a chef.
