Coffee & cake

October 8, 2013

Well, since my last blog when I was talking about a possible move to Spain I seem to have put down more roots, with two more visits and some great new friendships that move looks more likely. You know when you meet people and you feel as though you have known them forever. Uhm!

The best part of my last trip was the awesome drive from the Murcia region in-land to Granada and then onwards to the coastal area of Malaga. Quite a long drive so a huge thank you to my friend and driver, which meant I was able to relax and enjoy the scenery.

So what’s on the agenda? It seems I have a school visit this week in the Wakefield area and then countdown to the Chavos Ball. After the ball, who knows what the future holds but, I’m desperate to do some more writing. It seems there are too many distractions at the moment, and I suppose the next thing will be the build-up to Christmas. I simply can’t believe where this year has gone and I haven’t been to Mexico yet. Drrr…

That’s life I suppose, stuff happens. But I’m pleased to say that this last year we have raised enough money to support quite a few suffering children in Mexico City and the profits from our fundraising ball will no doubt help more.

You know what bothers me about so many of these charitable organisations today, is that a huge percentage of the money raised never even reaches the people it is meant to help. There is so much corruption in this world and it makes me sick. Scams uncovered this last few months in the United States where thousands of dollars have been raised through advertising to help needy children, most of which has gone to create a lavish lifestyle for the charity founders, is but one. All I can say, without preaching is that I do believe that one day everyone will be accountable for the way they have lived their lives and I wouldn’t like to be in their shoes.

So on that note and feeling like coffee and cake, I’m looking forward to the ball and tasting the celebration cake made by one of our local girls. Meanwhile, I’m gonna have a piece of birthday cake made by the chef at Valentino’s for my granddaughters birthday this week.
