I have not seen her for several years so that was good, especially as she blessed me with a copy of her new album.
The coastline is beautiful and whilst there is nothing nicer than an early morning stroll along the Marbella promenade, I still have no desire to live there unlike some of my friends. To visit more often, yes. But it is very much a concrete jungle in parts and, I just love the peace and quiet of the more rural areas of Spain, which one can reach so quickly. You will notice from my last blog I was staying in the region of Murcia and the drive from there to Malaga via Granada was quite spectacular. If you haven’t been there it’s a place well worth a visit for a few days and, although it is several years since I was there, the memories soon came flooding back as I passed Granada’s airport heading south-west.
It seems much of the attention in Spain is focussed on King Juan Carlos at the moment, as apparently his popularity has slumped in the ratings. My understanding is that for the past 38 years he has been one of the world’s most popular monarchs but Spaniards have more recently lost confidence in the 76 year old monarch, believing he should abdicate. Seemingly Spaniards have become increasingly frustrated with the long running corruption investigation into the Kings daughter’s and husbands business affairs. Meanwhile a recent report in the Spanish press states that Spain’s economy minister believes 2014 will be significant as an economic recovery kicks in. Creation of jobs, increase in property prices, we will see. I will neither be looking for a job in Spain nor to buy or sell property in the foreseeable future. However to have a Chavos Ball there, I like the sound of that one and, I think Marbella on the Costa del Sol would be perfect.
Hey, how are you coping with those New Year Resolutions? By now most people will have given in on at least half of them and may struggle through till the end of the month before giving up on the others. I found this list in a Spanish newspaper last week. So here we are in no particular order;-
Reorganise your life
Be more charitable
Learn something new
Get out of debt
Stop or reduce the alcohol intake
Enjoy life more
Stop smoking
Lose weight
Get fit
Spend more time with family.
As for me I’m still trying to reorganise my life.
