Parents, publishers and app developers want children to be able to better their reading abilities through the upcoming digital age to the same quality as books in a traditional form.
Daniel Donahoo, a researcher and author from Melbourne, said in Wired magazine that it is important as the digital space for children continues to mature that retailers and educators think about how they define and talk about the design and use of digital environments for children.
He added: "Developing language, categories and improving our understanding of what is happening is important. Digital environments and digital books can be both positive and negative learning spaces for children."
According to the author, the real power of technology for children is that they are growing up in a world where they can tell stories and share them with the world as well as read, write, draw and listen all on one device.
