The DaddyBeGood campaign aims to get more fathers reading to their children in the belief that children's reading habits will improve through parental input while helping to strengthen parental bonds, reports the Huffington Post.
"Reading books to your children regardless of their age is such a beneficial thing – inspiring them and helping them to get ahead in life," explained Ed Owen, editor of DaddyBeGood.
He added that the campaign was "thrilled that Freddie is helping us to spread that message".
Flintoff's support follows research from the University of York in July that warned many secondary school pupils may have reading difficulties that remain unidentified.
The study found that out of 857 pupils across 28 schools in England, one in seven had reading ages of two years or below, while some younger readers slipped under the radar of the special educational needs register which attempts to monitor and support their needs.
