Yesterday was the first day of Mexico Week in the UK. A multi-sector Business & Academic mission intended to promote trade and investment between Mexican and British companies and institutions. Organised by the Mexican Chamber of Commerce in the UK and various other bodies, it is designed to improve the image of Mexico, promote trade and investment and facilitate an opportunity for networking amongst the Mexican and British communities. The first meeting which started early was held at the prestigious Mansion House, London, which is the most impressive Georgian Building constructed in 1758, as the home of the Lord Mayor of London. After a short break late afternoon we then went on to enjoy networking at a second venue, the Glaziers Hall. Situated over the river within walking distance of London Bridge, it boasted amazing views of the city and cultural Southbank. It also proved to be an awesome building to do business. With both the British Ambassador to Mexico, the Mexican Ambassador to the UK and a host of other interesting people it turned out to be a successful and very positive day. I personally made some great contacts for the future and was thrilled to meet up with Mexican friends of old-note I don’t say-old Mexican friends! And re-establish relationships with people that I had met many years ago at the London International Book Fair when Mexico was the Market Focus.
Looking forward to Day 2 of Mexico week and the new challenges that I suspect it will throw in my direction.
