Parents across the UK interested in improving the literacy of their children may be interested in a new Australian product that aims to do just that.
According to the Made for Mums blog, the Reading Eggs system from Blake Publishing helps children improve their reading by using synthetic phonics, a method whereby children first learn the sounds of letters and are then able to pick up new words by grouping these sounds together.
It is aimed at children aged from three to seven years old.
Meanwhile, children attending Highfield Junior School in The Hydneye are benefitting from the Every Child a Reader project that has seen the creation of a new early learning centre to boost child literacy in the area.
Councillor Nick Bennett, the council's lead member for learning and school effectiveness, told the Eastbourne Herald: "This centre is doing marvellous things for those children who have difficulties in the early stages of their education."
